Once in a lifetime challenge
At the beginning of April, an extraordinary Building Heroes graduate has started to go the extra mile - or rather, the extra 1,000 miles to raise vital funds for three charities close to his heart and we're proud that Building Heroes is one of them.
Jevan Thompson set off on a once in a lifetime challenge: walking the entire length of Great Britain, from John O’ Groats to Land’s End—over 1,100 miles on foot, solo, and mostly camping along the way.
The challenge is estimated to take around 90 days and throughout he will be carrying his gear and campaign equipment - making the journey even more challenging.
Jevan said: "This journey has been a dream of mine for years. And now, after finishing 8 years of service in the British Army, I finally have the time and opportunity to make it happen. But I didn’t just want this to be about ticking a box on my bucket list—I wanted to turn it into something bigger."
Jevan chose Building Heroes after attending of our resettlement courses during his transition from the military and because of this, he believes in our mission: to support military veterans by providing free training and career pathways into the construction industry. Through his efforts, he’s not just raising funds – he’s raising awareness of the incredible potential veterans have when given the right tools and support.
By supporting Jevan’s journey, you’re also helping us:
Jevan’s walk is as symbolic as it is physical – representing the long and sometimes challenging road to recovery and reintegration that many veterans face. Every mile walked, every blister earned, is a step toward brighter futures for those who’ve served.
We’re incredibly honoured to be part of Jevan’s fundraising mission. You can follow his journey, see updates, and donate below.
Deputy Chief Executive, Nicola Schneider said: "We'd like to thank Jevan for his courage, commitment, and incredible effort. We wish you all the best on your journey and we hope you know it's making a lasting difference."
