We are fortunate to have an inspiring graduate, Jonathan Parrott, from the Reaseheath centre completing a fundraising walk for Building Heroes and Diabetes UK, which will take place along the route of the 1914-18 Western Front. He is undertaking this trek alongside his sister in law, Isla Morrison, who is also a veteran.
He has written about his story here: https://intothebreech.wixsite.com/wfw-23, which he will be updating throughout his journey and Building Heroes will be supporting him via social media also.
Please support JP and his sister-in-law, Isla, on this epic journey by donating if you can. Please also share this story across your graduates, current learners, employers, armed forces and local contacts networks.
This journey is very meaningful to both JP and Isla, and the fundraising is just the icing on the cake of what will likely be an emotional adventure for them both. Having met JP at Reaseheath, it was clear that he had enjoyed not only the new skills developed but also positive mental health benefits from completing on the BH course, supported by both the tutor and Jason.
At the graduation JP stated he would like to support us in the future as an ambassador and also fundraise. He was already deep into the planning of the Walk the Western Front adventure but hadn’t at that point decided whether he would be fundraising during the walk. At the graduation he made up his mind. (I think once he heard that Karen was throwing herself out of a plane to raise money, he could see from that we were really eager for the support 😊). So, JP then volunteered his efforts on this walk to ‘pay it forward’ and fundraise on behalf of Building Heroes, so that others like him can benefit from the Building Heroes programme in the future.
Please support him where you can, so that we can show our thanks as an organisation for his efforts - https://app.investmycommunity.com/campaigns/westernfrontway.
