A week in the life of a Building Heroes Skills Centre

The five-week construction multi-skills course has started in earnest, delivered in partnership with Reaseheath College. We have a great bunch of military leavers and veterans with a combined total of 206 years’ service between them, which is incredible.

We kicked off day one with a welcome meeting, course induction and a meet and greet, before the learners got straight into the bricklaying phase of the course. This skill can be a difficult graft, but the group all enjoyed the experience and had some excellent results.

In the first week, the cohorts also attended a construction industry insight day on campus and they had an introduction to carpentry.
