Celebrating the launch of our Inaugural Retrofit Assessor Programme!

We are thrilled to celebrate the successful launch of our inaugural Retrofit Assessor Programme on February 26th, delivered in partnership with Gateshead College and our Green Skills Academy sponsors Haig Housing and EON. This exciting venture marks a significant step forward in our mission to support the military community in accessing a breadth of rewarding careers in the construction sector.

Our dedicated learners have embarked on a rigorous 5-week accelerated learning journey, designed to equip them with the skills and qualifications needed to excel in the field of retrofit assessment. Led by industry experts and supported by our experienced trainers, our participants delved into a comprehensive curriculum that covered a range of essential topics.

Qualifications Earned:

  • ABBE Level Three Certificate in Domestic Energy Assessment
  • ABBE Level Three Certificate for Retrofit Assessors
  • GQA Level One Award in Construction Health & Safety
  • CSCS (Green) Labourers card

Additional Content Covered:

  • Asbestos Awareness
  • Introduction to the principles of PAS2035

Throughout the programme, our learners have been immersed in a dynamic learning environment, where they have explored building terminology, construction methods, and energy efficiency principles. Practical site surveys, assessments, and live case studies have provided valuable hands-on experience, allowing participants to apply their newfound knowledge in real-world scenarios, to ensure they are work ready at qualification.

As the programme has progressed, our learners have delved deeper into topics such as heating systems, ventilation, and defect identification, culminating in the completion of retrofit assessments on live sites. Alongside technical training, our participants have also received employability training, interview preparation, and invaluable insights into the retrofit industry landscape.

We're immensely proud to have launched this groundbreaking programme in collaboration with our esteemed partners, the Green Skills Academy sponsors, Haig Housing and EON. Additionally, we're grateful for the generous support from our Official Gold Partner, Annington, whose commitment enables us to extend the delivery of this and other Retrofit training programmes to Building Heroes academies and training centres nationwide over the coming year.

Their unwavering dedication and partnership have played a pivotal role in bringing this initiative to fruition, and we're deeply thankful for their essential contributions. Together, we remain steadfast in our mission to empower our learners, enabling them to unlock their full potential and pursue rewarding careers in the construction sector.

As we eagerly anticipate the upcoming graduation event, scheduled just in time for the Easter break, we look forward to celebrating the remarkable achievements of our learners and the exciting opportunities that lie ahead.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to pave the way for a brighter future in construction!
