Candid's Journey with Building Heroes Streetworks North East Academy

Coming from a healthcare background, she sought something active and out of her comfort zone. The Streetworks programme, with its outdoor and physical nature, seemed to be the perfect fit for Candid's aspirations.
Candid shared that her first focus for choosing to complete the Streetworks programme was because: "I was looking for a challenge"
Candid first discovered Building Heroes during a transition course at Catterick. The promise of meaningful career opportunities in the construction industry intrigued her, and she decided to explore the path with Building Heroes. Throughout the course, Candid found herself delving into new knowledge and experiences. Learning the ins and outs of field 'lingo' and operating machines that are often perceived to be exclusively for men expanded her skill set and opened her eyes to the possibilities in this line of work.
The Streetworks programme also provided Candid with a familiar work environment that resonated with her military background. The camaraderie, banter, and mutual respect among the team members allowed her to feel right at home.
And as for the training delivery, Candid couldn't speak highly enough of the trainer, describing him as encouraging, patient, and engaging—a true pillar of support throughout her journey.
As for career options, Candid is excited for what comes next : "The Streetworks programme has opened a world of possibilities for my future career path."
She now sees a plethora of opportunities in street-works, rail construction, communications, local councils, and health and safety in these areas. The horizon is brimming with excitement as she contemplates the endless choices before her.
Candid firmly believes that her experience proves that anyone can thrive in this line of work, regardless of gender. It's the attitude and dedication one brings to the table that counts.
